For the second year in a row the Matarazzo family will be heading to Dillion, Montana for RATPOD, or Ride Around The Pioneers in One Day. RATPOD is a 127 mile bike ride around the Pioneer Mountains. The proceeds from the ride are donated to Camp Mak-A-Dream, a summer camp for kids effected by cancer.

Last year the Matarazzo family biked the entire ride together. During the day we experienced true Montana weather. Anything from sunshine, to head winds to snow flurries and hail. The ride was supported by kids who have attended Camp Mak-A-Dream. It was incredible to be reminded of why we were biking throughout the ride as we saw the kids at water and food stops. It was a grueling day of riding up and over mountain passes and through small towns, but it was worth the sore butts and tired legs.

At the end of the day all of the riders gathered for dinner and the kids had a chance to tell their stories. Older siblings who watched as their younger siblings lose their battle with cancer, kids who fought their battle and are now in remission. Each of their stories were different and incredibly moving. They all had one thing in common, Camp Mak-A-Dream was there for them when they needed it the most. It gave them a place to go to forget about cancer just for a few days and play in the outdoors.

We believe in the work that Camp Mak-A-Dream does, and we are so grateful for the incredible ride they set up every single year. We hope that this is the start of a long tradition!

Last year the Matarazzo team raised over $5,000 for RATPOD, and the event raised $350,000 in total. Our goal this year is to raise $6,000. If you would like to donate to our family team, please visit:
